Last weekend, some of Imagine’s Sudbury staff spent part of their Thanksgiving long weekend representing Imagine and our amazing member RT at the SPFA Slo-Pitch Tournament in support of autism awareness.
Thank you to Jamie-Lee Thibert for sharing this shoutout with us! Jamie wanted to recognize the incredible team.
In Jamie’s words, “What stood out to me most had nothing to do with the scoreboard.” Instead, she was inspired by the teamwork, encouragement, and support shown throughout the day, noting that it was wonderful to see the same values staff bring to their programs every day come to life on the ball field.
Jamie extended heartfelt thanks to Program Counsellors Allison, Matt, Rasvir, Dave, Liza, Cassidy, and Sanal, as well as friends Mitch, Tyler, and Kyle, for representing Imagine so well. She also gave special recognition to Allison McLean for helping bring the team together and to Rebecca Thibert for keeping everyone hydrated and cheering from the sidelines.
Highlights include: watching RT throw the first pitch in two games. As Jamie shared, “Seeing his face light up on that ball field was a reminder of exactly why we were there.” She reflected that autism awareness is about”acceptance, inclusion, celebrating individuality, and creating opportunities for meaningful experiences,” and that the day was a wonderful example of those values in action.
“It wasn’t about winning or losing. It was about coming together for something bigger than ourselves and creating moments that matter.” Wrote Jamie.
Thank you to everyone who participated and demonstrated the positivity, kindness, and team spirit that make Imagine such a special community.
