For those young people in our care who are not able to live independently and require supportive housing, Imagine Therapeutic Services offers residential support homes for both transitional programming and adults.
Our vision for the transitional and adult programmes is that young adults experience a happy fulfilling life that is free from discrimination, barriers and limitations. Our goal is to provide a programme and living situation for young adults that keeps them busy, contributing members of society, with opportunities to learn new skills, to be safe, to learn about structure, routine and cooperative living.
Our team of caring and professional caregivers will help to stabilize, integrate or support adults into a community home with the support of staffing, parents, community, community workers, volunteers, and friends. Every person is unique and Imagine Residential Services responds to this by developing individualized programmes.
Lifeskills and pro-social activities will be supported by experienced staff who will assist with menu-planning, shopping, budgeting, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other skills that contribute to living cooperatively in a home and in a community. It allows for young people to negotiate certain things in their living situation. This model of living allows for adults to make their own decision, facilitates learning about conflict resolution, developing social relationships and friendships.
We have an Indigenous Direct Care Counsellor who creates individualized supports to help maintain connection to the land and traditions.
Extracurricular activities will include, staying fit, going to the theatre, bowling, story telling, yoga, swimming and other activities.
Imagine Therapeutic Services accepts private referrals as well as ODSP funded young adults.
Adults will have opportunities to work, volunteer and learn skills through a day programme. This programme is open to community referrals and residential clients.
There is a plethora of volunteer opportunities that will be tapped into. Community based resources will be accessed. Extracurricular activities will include, staying fit, going to the theatre, bowling, story telling, yoga, swimming, etc. We will also offer programmes such as Circles-A Programme to learn about boundaries and Streetsmarts. - Why a Trauma Assessment?
- What is the focus of a Trauma Assessment?
Developing a comprehensive framework for assessing both the exposure to, and impact of, complex trauma is vital. Complex trauma can have such pervasive impact on developmental trajectories that children often end up with problems across many domains of functioning.
Many children may be diagnosed with a range of disorders, and consequently treated with multiple medications and therapies that are ultimately ineffective because they fail to address the underlying problem and do not reflect a trauma-informed approach to assessment and treatment.
A trauma assessment is client focused based on the trauma the youth or child identifies.
